Admission Eligibility:

Minimum Qualification for Admission: Passed JSC/ JDC/ 8th Class/ Govt recognized equivalent examination.

or

Students who do not have JSC/ JDC/ 8th Class/ Government recognized equivalent certificate can also apply for admission, in this case the age should be minimum 14 years (as on 31/12/2022). These applicants have to pass the admission test prescribed by BOU to verify their eligibility. Details of admission test subject, manning, dates and examination centers and process are available from BOU's website, regional and sub-regional centers and study centers.

MPH Admission Notice & Short Overview 2023 Session

Applications are being invited online through OSAPS (www.osapsnew.bou.ac.bd) from interested students for admission in the 2023 academic year (6th batch) to the Master of Public Health program run by the School of Science and Technology of Bangladesh Open University (BOU).


Minimum Eligibility for Application:

  • Bachelor Degree in Health Science / Biological Science / Health Science.
  • Minimum 2nd Class Pass / GPA 2.5 or above in Doctor, Engineer, Dentist, Bachelor of Nursing, Physiotherapy and 3 or 4 years Bachelor of Sociology.
  • Must be proficient in English and computer to complete the program.

Duration of the program: 2 years.

Number of Semester: 4 Semester (Duration of Each Semester – 6 months)

Number of Courses: 12 Courses and 1 Research Project.

Selection criteria to Admission into the MPH Program of BOU

The selection of learners for admission into the program will be done on a competitive basis by assessing result of admission test. To be eligible for admission into the MPH Program, applicant’s minimum requirements to take part in the admission test are as follows:

- Admission test will be conducted for 1:00 hour with following subjects.

- Applicant will appear in the 100 marks MCQ typed written test and Viva-voce which consisting of -

  1. Health-related general knowledge (30 marks),
  2. Nutrition and Mother-Child Health (30),
  3. Fundamental of statistics (30 marks) and
  4. English and Bengal Literacy (10 marks).

01. Eligibility for admission to MPhil programme:

  • An applicant's four years Bachelor's degree and one year Master's degree / Three years Bachelor's degree and one year Master's degree / Two years Bachelor's degree and two years Master's degree from any recognized educational institution or Health related professional degree like MBBS/ MD/ BDS/ BPT/ Must have B.Sc PT/ Master in Nursing/ B.Sc in OT/ B.Sc in SLT/ B.Sc in P&O/ BHMS/ BUMS/ BAMS Degree. Applicants should secure minimum 50% marks in all examinations including second division/class, 3.5 out of 5.00 or 3.00 out of 4.00 as per CGPA norms.
  • A teacher/researcher/officer should have minimum two years working experience in Public University/Private University/Medical College/Organization/Institute/College affiliated to National University.


02. Eligibility for admission to PhD programme:

  • MPhil degree with four years degree / MS degree / Master degree / Two years master degree with four years degree / Four years degree and one year master degree with thesis/dissertation / Three year degree and one year master degree from any recognized educational institution of an applicant. Must have thesis/dissertation along with degree. Or, Health related professional degrees like MBBS/ BDS/ BPT/ BSc PT/ Master in Nursing/ BSc in OT/ BSc in SLT/ BSc in P&O/ BHMS/ BUMS/ BAMS and Health related postgraduate degrees like MPhil/ MSc/ MD/ FCPS/ MS / Must have Masters. Applicants must have obtained minimum 50% marks in all examinations including 2nd division/class, 3.5 out of 5.00 or 3.00 out of 4.00 as per CGPA norms in all examinations including Bachelor's, Master's/MPhil degree.
  • A teacher/researcher/officer should have minimum two years working experience in Public University/Private University/Medical College/Organization/Institute/College affiliated to National University.
  • At least two research papers should be published in peer-reviewed accredited journals. Applicants with an MPhil/MS degree along with a published thesis will be considered eligible to apply.

Admission going on SSC & HSC (Niche-2): Admission notice, 2023-2024 session from 15-12-2022 to 15-01-2023

The program of admission of students in the academic year 2023-2024 (2023 batch) has started in the Bangladesh Open University SSC program conducted by the Open School.   • Students with graduation or post graduation degree from a recognized university/college in any subject including humanities, social sciences, science, business education will be considered eligible for admission in MBA (Bangla) program.
  • BBA degree holders can get direct admission in MBA third semester if they have achieved CGPA of 2.75.
  • 3 year degree holders can apply.
  • Graduation of 2 years duration is not acceptable.
