Dutch-Bangla Bank (DBBL) Scholarship-2022 for SSC Passed Students

Dutch-Bangla Bank has been providing scholarships to meritorious and financially disadvantaged students studying at Higher Secondary, Graduate and Post-graduate levels in various educational institutions of the country under its scholarship programme. In this continuation, online applications are invited for scholarships from meritorious students who have cleared the SSC/equivalent examination of 2022, and are seeking financial assistance in the field of education.

Scholarship Information
  • 1. Dutch-Bangla Bank, under its social cause program, has been awarding the scholarships to the meritorious students in need of financial aid studying at different levels of education since its beginning. DBBL awards new scholarships every year along with renewal of existing awardees.
  • 2. The Bank has given scholarships to the deserving students from huge applications following a set of criteria such as the applicant´s academic results, financial capability, physical conditions etc. Around 90% of the scholarships have been given to the rural students and 50% to the female students.
  • 3. Dutch-Bangla Bank has been awarding scholarships to meritorious students in need of financial aid studying at higher secondary & graduation levels. In continuation of this program applications are invited for DBBL scholarships from meritorious students in need of financial aid who passed S.S.C./equivalent examinations in 2017 and meet the following requirements:

Other criteria of the Scholarship:
  • Students availing scholarship from other sources (except Government scholarship) will not qualify for Dutch-Bangla Bank's scholarship.
  • 90% of total scholarships will be earmarked for students who passed S.S.C./equivalent examinations from the institutions in rural areas and 50% of total scholarships will be earmarked for female students.

Dutch-Bangla Bank, under its social cause program, has been awarding scholarship to the meritorious students in need of financial aid studying at Higher Secondary, Graduation levels. Under this initiative, a total number of 43,628 students got DBBL scholarship among which 18,161 students of different levels are receiving the scholarship at present. In this connection, the Bank is going to award scholarships to 2,028 meritorious students who passed HSC/Equivalent Exam. in 2016 and studying at Graduation level in different universities/colleges of the country.


Mr. Abul Maal A. Muhith, MP, Hon’ble Minister for Finance, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest and handed over the Scholarship Awarding Letters among the recipients at a ceremony held at Shaheed Surhawardy Indoor Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka on March 11, 2017. Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Honorable Chairman, Board of Directors of Dutch-Bangla Bank presided over the function.

Hon’ble Minister, Mr. Abul Maal A. Muhith in his oration profusely lauded the scholarship program of Dutch-Bangla Bank and recalled other philanthropic activities of the Bank. He appreciated the DBBL’s continuous humanitarian and welfare activities and termed this Scholarship program as a unique example of helping the meritorious and needy students of the country. He expected that all the corporate bodies of the country would come forward with such programs for the benefit of the society. He congratulated the scholarship awardees and expected that they would dedicate themselves by achieving real education.

Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Honorable Chairman, Board of Directors of Dutch-Bangla Bank in his speech said that Dutch- Bangla Bank started this scholarship when it noticed that there are a lot of students who did not receive fair chance, despite showing academic talent, for economic, demographic and societal reasons, they are not able to pursue their dreams. They are not lacking in merit, but lack of the resources to use their merit. He added that this ceremony will transform and empower students to do more. The Chairman extended his gratitude and thanks to the Hon’ble Minister and all the guests for attending and gratifying the scholarship awarding ceremony.

Mr. Abul Kashem Md. Shirin, Managing Director of the Bank congratulated the scholarship awardees and gave vote of thanks.

Answers to some commonly asked questions are given below:

1. What is IDB-BISEW?

Islamic Development Bank-Bangladesh Islamic Solidarity Educational Wakf (IDB-BISEW) was established following an agreement between the Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and the Government of Bangladesh. IDB-BISEW undertakes funding and implementing of projects in the areas of education, human resource development and institutional strengthening.

2. What is IDB-BISEW IT Scholarship Project?

It is a technology skills development project under which the scholarship winners are provided with training of various duration on IT disciplines leading to a certificate or professional diploma. Currently, around 1,074 trainees are undergoing training in Round – 29, 30, 31, 32 and 33. Around 8,277 graduates of the past Rounds of the scholarship programme are employed as IT professionals in various organizations at home and abroad.

3. What benefit would a candidate get from this project?

The selected candidates will get an opportunity to undergo training by participating in a Certificate or a Diploma level course at one of the premiere training institute in Dhaka & Chittagong. In financial terms these courses are worth approximately Tk. 1,35,000 for training only. An additional sum of around Tk. 20,000 is spent for vendor certification for each trainee.

4. What would the scholarship cover?

The scholarship would cover the entire tuition fees for each course offered. It also covers Vendor Certification examination fee that a candidate needs to pass in order to successfully complete the course. The scholarship does not cover the cost to be incurred by the candidate for food and accommodation during the training.

5. How many times does the student intake take place?

The student intake would take place 4 times in a project year. Candidates may apply in multiple intakes if unsuccessful in earlier attempts.

6. Who can apply for the scholarships?

This scholarship only for underprivileged Muslim youths who has already passed Bachelor’s (Pass Course/Honours)/Fazil or Master’s/Kamil degree examination can apply for the scholarships.


7. Do candidates need to have prior computing knowledge for applying for the scholarships?

Candidates not having any prior knowledge of computing can apply for the Scholarship.

8. What are the steps involved in the candidate selection process?

Candidate can apply online as well as can collect APPLICATION FORM, from any branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited by 100 Taka.

Following are the steps involved in the candidate selection process under IDB-BISEW scholarship program:
  • Apply online by visiting the web link apply.idb-bisew.info

  • Carefully read the given instructions before filling up the form. Keep your academic certificates/mark-sheets and your National ID at hand as you will need these to fill up the form

  • Candidate have to pay 100 Taka by bKash as application fee on mentioned bKash account number. Enter the required information in the form with bKash transection ID and click on the Submit button

  • Print out two copies of the Admit Card shown on the screen and bring both copies to the exam centre when you appear for the Aptitude Test

  • If you enter all required information correctly and you are eligible for the scholarship then you will be shortlisted to appear in the Aptitude Test or subject-specific test

  • Candidates who pass the test are called for an interview at IDB-BISEW

  • You shall be selected for the scholarship if you pass the interview


9. Where would the training be held?

The training courses will be held in Dhaka & Chittagong.

10. Who would be delivering the training courses?

In the previous rounds, various IT training institutions located in Dhaka and Chittagong, namely, Asia Pacific Communication Ltd., AT Computer Solution Ltd, Bangladesh Computer Institute, Bangladesh IT Institute, BASE LIMITED., Bhuiyan IT Ltd (BITL), BIRDS A&Z LIMITED, Centre for Computer Studies Ltd., Computer Network Systems Ltd., Creative Visions Ltd., Daffodil Institute of IT, Datapark (BD) Limited, Dot Com Systems, Genuity Systems Ltd., IBCS-PRIMAX Software(Bangladesh) Ltd., IT Bangla Ltd., Macro Softwares Limited, New Horizons CLC of Dhaka, New Vision Information Technology Ltd., Praxis Training Technology & Consultancy, Star Computer Systems Limited, The Computers Limited DHK and US Software Limited are delivering the training courses. The project authority has specially selected these institutes based on the project’s quality requirements and their reputation in the industry. Other quality IT training institutes will be enlisted as and when required.

11. At what time of the day would the training take place?

All the training courses would be conducted either in the morning slot (9.00 am to 1.00 pm) or in the afternoon slot (3.00 pm to 7.00 pm)

12. What is meant by the Aptitude Test?

In order to assess the basic educational ability of the candidate, the Project Authority would conduct this Aptitude Test in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) format. The Aptitude Test shall comprise of two sections – Quantitative (in Bangla) section and English section.

13. Is there any pass marks in the test?

There will not be any pass or fail marks for the test. Instead, a percentile ranking system has been adopted to select successful candidates.

14. Is placement assistance provided in the project?

The project has a cell for the placement of IDB-BISEW graduates in gainful jobs. The cell maintains close relationship with the employers and continuously works for arranging interview for the graduates. The project enjoys a 92% placement rate. The Placement Cell maintains a dedicated web based job site named careerHub. Only the graduates of IDB-BISEW can post their CVs on this site. Employers choose CVs from this site and select candidates for employment.

Louis Dreyfus-Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme

The Louis Dreyfus-Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme supports outstanding postgraduate students from developing and emerging economies throughout Africa, Asia and South America.

The Louis Dreyfus Foundation aims to promote sustainable agriculture, food security and self-sufficiency, particularly through education and direct support to farmers, with a specific focus on developing countries in the above-mentioned regions.

One of the Foundation's goals is to address the challenge facing humanity to double global food production in a sustainable way in order to feed a rapidly growing population.

This scholarship forms part of the wider Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme, managed by the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust. For more information, including details of the leadership programme, please see the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme web page.

The scholarship will cover 100% of University and college fees and a grant for living costs (of at least £14,296). Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course.

You should be intending to return to your country of ordinary residence once your course is completed. Students currently at Oxford are not eligible to apply unless they are already Weidenfeld-Hoffmann scholars.

The Louis Dreyfus-Weidenfeld Scholarships and Leadership Programme targets future leaders pursuing diverse careers with a focus on improving food security and sustainability. Successful applicants must demonstrate that, following their academic studies at Oxford, they are committed to serving the global community through their chosen field of work, including but not limited to: the agricultural industry, development areas, politics and/or law related to food security and/or sustainable agriculture, health care, environmental and water management, economic, public and foreign policy.

You should be able to demonstrate a connection between your subject of study and your longer-term career objectives, explaining how you see your professional work contributing to the improvement of public life in your country of origin or at a wider regional or international level. This scholarship seeks to support individuals who, following completion of their supported studies, will go on to actively engage in the chosen fields listed above.

The above qualities will be assessed during the selection process, including using your graduate application form, your Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships Questionnaire and (if relevant) your interview.

This scholarship is not open to applications from candidates who hold deferred offers to start in 2017-18.

HOW TO APPLY

In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must select the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme in the University of Oxford Scholarships section of the University's graduate application form and submit your application for graduate study by the relevant January deadline for your course (6 or 20 January 2017).

You must also complete a Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships Questionnaire (see Related documents on this page) and upload it, together with your graduate application form, by the deadline.

We will use the details you insert in the ‘Nationality and ordinary residence’ section of the graduate application form to assess your country of ordinary residence. For a definition of ordinary residency and further details on how to complete this section of the graduate application form, please see the Nationality and Ordinary residence sections of the graduate application form and also the Technical Help.

To be eligible for consideration for this scholarship, applicants must be successful in being offered a place on their course after consideration of applications received by the relevant January deadline for the course. Course applications which are held over after the January deadline to be re-evaluated against applications received by the March deadline or course applications which have been put on a waiting list are not eligible for scholarship consideration.

If you are shortlisted for the scholarship, you will be required to participate in an interview, which is likely to be held via Skype in April 2017.

Fatima-Azim Memorial and Educational (FAME) Scholarship 2016

In the loving memories of his late parents, Dr. Masud Parvez, an ex-student and ex-Faculty (Department of Agronomy) of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka, Bangladesh has introduced FAME (Fatima-Azim Memorial & Educational) Scholarship at the SAU in 2016. FAME

Scholarship is open to any financially needy but meritorious fulltime undergraduate student of the Faculty of Agriculture, SAU.

The Awarding Committee of the FAME Scholarship is currently inviting applications from the eligible candidates as per following terms and conditions:

Eligibility: Undergraduate student of level 1 or 2 or 3 of the Faculty of Agriculture, SAU.

Financial Status: Financially needy as per certificate from appropriate authority such as Union parisad chairman/Pourosoba chairman/Ward commissioner and or Salary statement of applicants guardian/parents/others(as applicable) .

Academic Merit: GPA 3.5 or over in the scale of 4.00 and GPA 4.5 or over in the scale of 5.00 in case of S.S.C. & H.S.C.

Scholarship Amount: @BDT 1,000/= (One Thousand Taka) per month paid by Cheque in each month.

Scholarship Number: 1 (one)

Scholarship Duration: 12 Months from July 2016 to June 2017

Application Procedure:

Intended eligible undergraduate full-time students of the Faculty of Agriculture, SAU are requested to collect application form from the Academic & Scholarship section/ Dean office of the Agriculture faculty/ SAU website and submit their filled in application form with the contact details and attaching the original copy of the financially needy certificate including source of income & amount of money of parents from appropriate authority. The applicants have to submit attested copies of the academic results/transcripts(S.S.C., H.S.C. & latest mark sheet of undergraduate level), one passport size photograph to the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, SAU.

Any false and misleading information in the application is a punishable offense.

Application Deadline: 24 May 2016.

No late application will be considered.

Selection Procedure:

The Awarding Committee of the FAME Scholarship will short-list the applications received and notify to the short-listed candidates for further test or interview. At this stage the originals of the relevant certificates like academic results/transcripts, etc .are to be produced.

The Chulabhorn Graduate Institute (CGI) is a multidisciplinary post-graduate academic institute established in 2005, under the initiative of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol. The aim of CGI is to employ the most recent interactive teaching techniques used in world leading educational and research institutions to produce effective thinkers and leaders to better serve their countries' needs towards sustainable development. The CGI is presently offering programs in Applied Biological Sciences: Environmental Health, Environmental Toxicology, and Chemical Biology. This year, 10 (ten) scholarships are available for international applicants to pursue a Master's Degee study at the CGI. Selection of applicants will be based on merit.

Eligibility

Scholarships are open to the eligible applicants who is under 30 years of age and hold a Bachelor Degree with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 in one of the following fields:

  • Sciences: Chemistry, Biology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Environmental Sciences.
  • Medical Sciences: Medicine, Medical Technology, Nursing, Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Applicants from other related fields are also welcome to apply.

  • Have at least I year of scientific laboratory research experiences
  • Applicants must have demonstrated English proficiency, preferably on one of two recognized test of language proficiency (TOEFL,IELTS)
  • Applicants must provide a statement of purpose explaining their interests in the study
